Museum Monday 062507

I was going to use this for a Wordless Wednesday, but I decided to use this for Museum Monday.
Please tell me what this is, at which museum this can be found, the hidden message, and what this has to do with New York City.

Hmmmm. The material looks like leather, but I am not sure. The hidden message is "One Nation, One Destiny," and my GUESS is that it has to do with 9/11. So..... that MIGHT mean that it is at the New York State Museum. I know that they have a HUGE September 11, 2001 exhibit.

No, not leather, and not 21st century!

One of the clues is precisely the message.

(I have been told by Mrs. Mecomber at New York State Traveler that the 9/11 exhibit is well worth seeing.)

Keep playing - and send some friends!

It looks like a quilt. "One Country, One Destiny" was a Union patriot cry after the shenanagins at Fort Sumter.

I know Daniel Webster had said "One flag, one country, one destiny."

I believe it has something to do with the Civil War or aftermath...

Um....

Well, it's quilt-ed.

And yes, it does have something to do with the civil War and the aftermath. ('Aftermath' is the operative word here.)

It just came to me! It's BLACK. It's QUILTED.

Could it possibly be the burial cloth for Lincoln's coffin????

If I get this, I will be dancing around the house...

You're toe-tapping, but not quite dancing!

Lincoln, yes. Burial cloth, not yet.
